Unmarked Vol. II - I must have missed the memo for Volume I because I honestly hadn’t heard of the show until a month or so ago which only means the marketing team stepped it up this time around. The event was held at “The Venue” in Alexandria (Sydney, Australia) which overall was pretty cool. There were 3 different exhibition areas that flowed together quite well and the spacing of vehicles was much better than I had expected, making it a nicer viewing experience for each vehicle.
The overall quality of the cars on display was top tier and I don’t think there was a single car there that I feel didn’t belong. The blue S13 below took home the award for best bodywork and it’s easy to see how deserving it really is. My personal favourite of the show was also an S13, being the two-tone white and gold rolling on Work Equip 40’s representing for the small wheel gang. The styling of that car is right up my alley.
It seems to me there is currently a shift away from the more “hypebeast” shiny deep dish wheels and more towards motorsport and race wheels. While there is still a healthy mix of both I have to say I am happy to see more Advan, BBS, Volk/Rays, Nismo etc popping up and making a strong comeback, making for a much more diverse range of wheels on display compared to other shows in the last few years.
Although I had seen everything at the show within half an hour of arriving it wasn’t until I slowed down and stopped to take everything in, that I realised just how good the show really was. Everything was of high quality and the longer you spent looking at the builds the more details you would uncover. If other shows can keep to this standard I’d be happy to attend many many more. I feel as though the bar has been set for entrants and as spectators if we are given anything less than this it would be a major disappointment.
I feel the Sydney scene as a whole is moving away from the whole tilty-wheel stance era from the last few years and going for a less is more approach to things which personally I enjoy tenfold. If things continue to go this way I’ll be pointing my camera at a lot more cars in the future.
Unmarked Vol. II was a step in the right direction as far as car shows go here in Sydney and I am looking forward to what else the Unmarked crew cooks up.
If you know any of the owners of the vehicles pictured, please send them this link as I only know of a handful.
