You always hear stories about a friend selling their car and regretting it years and years later, saying that if they could buy it back they would in a heartbeat etc, but there’s not many people that can say they actually got to buy it back. Connor’s GTR is thankfully one of those rare stories. Connor purchased this gorgeous 1989 AH3 red R32 GTR a few years back and spent countless hours making it his own, building the engine and really cleaning it up to where he was proud of it. Then of course GTR prices were on the climb and it kind of made sense to let it go, and so he sold the car on. A year and a half later Connor was given the chance to buy the car back and without hesitation it was parked up on his driveway once again. He bought the car back and started to get straight back into it, once again cleaning up the car to his standards and adding a few more performance modifications. The car stayed as a twin-turbo set up utilising HKS GT-SS turbos and was pushed the to limit, spinning the rear hub-dyno at B2R Motorsports up to a massive 400Kw. This however, was only the beginning as one of the turbos decided its had enough shortly after the tune and the car went back in to B2R for a massive overhaul.
This time around at B2R, the car was in for a single turbo conversion along with an assortment of Link ECU goodies and of course a fresh set of wheels while the car is off the road. Connor’s new set up managed to push out just over 600Kw/800HP and shocked a few 1000HP+ GTRs at roll racing this past Friday. The car now sits pretty on a rare set of Nismo LMGT4 wheels (18 x 9.5 +12) along with Mine’s Ohlins suspension all round and sounds absolutely wicked thanks to the Tomei Expreme 3.5” titanium exhaust.
The car as it now sits consists of:
- Mahle forged pistons
- Eagle I-Beam rods
- ARP head and main studs
- ACL Race bearings
- Supertech valve train with Tomei 272 camshafts
- Cometic head gasket
- N1 oil pump w/collar
- Precision Turbo PTE6466 with 1.01 rear housing
- 6 Boost exhaust manifold
- Turbosmart 50mm external wastegate
- Frenchy’s twin in-tank fuel set up with Bosch 540 fuel pumps
- Bosch 2000cc injectors
- Hypertune fuel rail + Turbosmart fuel pressure regulator
- Hypertune intercooler + fabrication work
- Link G4+ ECU with Link MXS Street dash and full sensor package
- Brembo brake conversion all round
Connor plans to hit the drag strip to see what the car is capable of and eventually add a water-methanol injection set up, PPG dog gearbox and also plans to pull out the engine to paint and clean up the engine bay.
Be sure to follow Connor on instagram to keep up with the car!
